WTF Movie of the Week: Holy Mountain


A Christlike figure wanders through bizarre, grotesque scenarios filled with religious and sacrilegious imagery. He meets a mystical guide who introduces him to seven wealthy and powerful individuals, each representing a planet in the solar system. These seven, along with the protagonist, the guide and the guide's assistant, divest themselves of their worldly goods and form a group of nine who will seek out the Holy Mountain, in order to displace the gods who live there and become immortal. - Marty Cassady 
 
This is probably the trippiest and most ridiculous movie I have ever seen. You could also spend hours on end interpreting all the religious and ancient symbolism in this film. For all you stoners out there, this is entertainment gold.

P.S. the trailer is not exactly safe for work. Couldn't find a video for it online, but i'm sure if you dig around a little you could.

    FUCK YES. i LOVED holy mountain.

    one of my favorite mindfuck movies i recommend to all my stoner friends.

    kick the shit out of eraserhead in the mindfuck genre IMO

    but don't get me wrong, eraserhead is one of my favorites.

    It's kind of hard to recommend a movie like this. If you have an open mind and want to see a film that has no other comparisons to other movies, then i'd recommend it you.

    Well that was easily the most terrifying two and a half minutes of my life. It's cool, I probably wasn't gonna sleep tonight anyway...
