Alabama Shakes
In a time where every band seems to have adopted a synth player or dj, its comforting to discover a band that brings some "soul" back to music. Alabama Shakes could have easily been a band from a past time, with their raspy southern vocals and memorable classic blues guitar riffs. It's this familiarity that makes their music so enjoyable. Even though they only have a four song EP out, i feel confident in saying these guys will be something big in the future.

Wise Blood
Wise Blood is the work of Chris Laufman. He (and live, with his band) brings some wickedly wacked-out beats, loops, lo-fi layers and samples to create a magically trippy hip-pop-electro-dream world that can be compared to something like... well, actually, I have no idea. - ohmyrockness.com
His newish EP These Wings have been on repeat on my Ipod ever since I got it. The first song i posted is called Loud Mouths, and is kind of his hit song, the second, Darlin Your Sweet, is just my personal favorite off his EP. Let me know what you guys think.

Band You Should Check Out: The Mhurs
I fell in love with The Mhurs as soon as I heard “I’m Sorry Forever”. It opens with an eery guitar line and the slightest of bass touches hinting at what’s to follow: an absolutely immense main riff with bluesy verses and a big, filthy guitar solo for a bridge that could have been ripped straight from the fingers of Jack White.
Check it out below and let me know what you think.

Scenes From the Suburbs
Director Spike Jonze teams up with Arcade Fire to create a thirty-minute short film inspired by their critically acclaimed album, The Suburbs, and its themes of war and coming of age in suburbia. Co-written by Jonze & Arcade Fire’s Win Butler & Will Butler, this companion piece to the album follows the narrator, living in a suburban dystopia, trying to piece together fragmented memories from when he was a teenager, and his experiences with his friends as they grow apart. –SXSW
Here is the trailer
You can watch below for now, could get taken down any day though.

Band You Should Check Out: The Steelwells
The Steelwells have had a steady rise in the California music scene, gathering a ever growing army of loyal and dedicated fans. Comparisons in the music press to the Beach boys and Wilco sit comfortably with the band, who in such a short space of time seem to have carved out their own niche in an otherwise fickle – and at times elitist – California music scene.- Ian P

Band You Should Check Out: Girl Unit
With only one official release and a smattering of remixes and other tracks to his name, Girl Unit nonetheless displays a keen ear for US street sounds, whether it be ghettotech and juke or radio-ready hip-hop and R&B. His track "Wut" has been blowing up all over the internet lately and I thought I'd share it with all of you. Let me know what you think.

Band You Should Check Out: Blitzen Trapper
Blitzen Trapper plays spaced out alternative country/folk/indie rock music. Think a mixture of The Grateful Dead and The Kinks. The song that i'm posting for them isn't the best representation of their sound, but it is one of my favorite by the band. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Band You Should Check Out: Vitalic
Vitalic is the alter ego of Pascal Arbez, a French programmer/multi-instrumentalist who blends electro, techno, and house -- as well as elements of classical, rock, Italo-disco, and '70s electronic music -- into a sound that recalls the work of fellow countrymen Daft Punk and Air, but has its own hard-edged playfulness. - Heather Phares

WTF Movie of the Week: Enter the Void
This film is about the afterlife of a drug dealing teen living in Japan. The visuals in this movie are beautiful and has a very psychedelic feel to it. The only problem that i had with this film is it is a little repetitive, but i think that was the point. Check out the trailer below.

Jacques Bruna, better known by his stage name Bleubird. is an American rapper originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is known for his rapid-fire delivery, comic relief, lyrical wit, and freestyle ability.
