Band You Should Check Out: Lucero
Lucero is probably the closest thing to country music that I enjoy. They play emotionally driven southern rock that anyone could relate to. I've had the chance to see them twice and both times were great. If your going through a tough time or just want some laid back drinking music, then you might enjoy this.

Rappers You Should Check Out: Aesop Rock
Aesop Rock is probably my favorite rappers right now. His style has been criticized as stream of conscious bullshit, but I find it brilliant. His lyrics for one album could probably fill a small book, and this dude must have a dictionary and thesaurus next to him as he's writing. I was lucky enough to meet this guy after a show he played, and he seems like a stand up guy. Anyway check out the song and let me know what you think.

WTF Movie of the Week: Dogtooth
Sorry for the lack of posting, been kind of busy lately.
Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. Their father has created a system that keeps the teens in a constant battle for perfection and obedience of their parents as well as instilling fears in them of the outside world.
This film is weird in the sense that you will laugh at a scene, only to think about why you laughed and feel guilty and disturbed by it. Even though its kind of a slow film, its surprisingly compelling. The sex scenes are a tad over the top, but other than that I thought it was a well made film.

Band You Should Check Out: Smith Westerns
Chicago's Smith Westerns are yet another band singing urgent, ramshackle garage songs about teenage frustrations and longings- Tom Breihan
Personally I disliked their first album, but was really surprised by how much they improved on their second album. They have a really uplifting and infectious sound. Let me know what you guys think.
